Long Life Retreat

Saturday, February 18, 2012

A long life is necessary if we wish to make spiritual progress. We need ample time to purify our negativities and to accumulate abundant virtuous karma. Fortunately Buddha taught methods whereby we can extend our life. One such practice is the Yoga of Buddha Amitayus. Through engaging in particular visualizations and prayers, and holding faith in Buddha Amitayus we create the cause for our life to be extended. Free to attend.

               WISDOM WORKSHOP

Saturday, March 3, 2012
10 am - 1 pm

Most of us experience considerable suffering whenever we encounter a situation that we do not wish for and can find no remedy to alleviate it. Because we cling tightly to certain attitudes we end up causing ourself the misery of disappointment, anger, resentment, depression, and other negative feelings. Instead of making ourself ill we need to make ourself well by becoming our own wisdom doctor.

Cost: $20  [Centre cardholders 1/2 price]

Healing Retreat: Medicine Buddha Prayer

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Unfortunately, many people around us are suffering from a myriad of illnesses and diseases. We ourself may be suffering as well. The best way to help others and ourself is to use the power of our mind to create positive karma and to destroy negative karma. We can accomplish this by engaging in the healing practice of Medicine Buddha. Medicine Buddha is a Buddha doctor whose function is to release living beings from outer and inner sickness by bestowing blessings upon them. Free to attend.

Refuge Retreat
April 3 - 8 , 2012

Refuge is actual protection. We can gain actual protection from danger by relying upon the 'Three Jewels,'  Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. There are many stories throughout the history of Buddhism of people facing untimely death or serious injury who go for refuge and are protected from harm. Even more important than seeking protection from harm in this life, is seeking protection from harm in all of our future lives. If we wish to enjoy such protection we must develop and deepen our familiarity with the mind of refuge until it is spontaneous. Free to attend.
