Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso is the Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT). In 1991 ‘Geshe-la’ established the NKT and has since introduced Kadampa Buddhism to more than 35 countries. Geshe-la was born in Tibet and ordained as a monk at the age of 8. Since then he has devoted his entire life to helping others gain lasting inner peace and happiness. He has authored 20 acclaimed books that reveal clearly how to enter, progress, and complete the path to enlightenment. Geshe-la offers people from around the world the opportunity receive instructions on how to practice Dharma, by teaching at annual Kadampa festivals. It is his sincere wish that all the people of this world, no matter what their faith, experience pure happiness.

Teachers

Kelsang Rabgye is the Resident Teacher of Samudra Buddhist Centre. He was appointed to this position by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in June 2003. Prior to becoming Resident Teacher he had been the branch teacher in Hamilton since 1998. He studied in Foundation Program and Teacher Training Program in Toronto at Chandrakirti Centre from 1997 to 2003. Rabgye also teaches in London, Brantford, and St Catharines.

Kelsang Chopag is the General Program teacher in the Dundas branch. He has been studying Buddhism since 2002 and is enrolled in the Foundation Program in Hamilton where he continues to pursue his study of Dharma. Chopag is know for his passion, warmth, and sincerity in explaining Buddha's wisdom. 

Kelsang Gyalchog  is the branch teacher in both St. Catharines and Niagara Falls. She has been studying Dharma since 2003 and is continuing to study in the Foundation Program. She teaches with heartfelt kindness and love.
